The first one will be via expansions, which continue the overall storyline of the game. The base game's storyline will be expanded in two areas post-launch. The feud between him and Lilith is one of the game's key plot points. The Horadrim play a key role in the game's story, as well as Inarius. A core theme of the game is "hatred" the motif of hate consuming the world, and the hearts of the player character(s). The main plot is similar to Diablo II in that it is a "following-in-the-footsteps-of" story specifically, the game's player character(s) is/are pursuing Lilith across Sanctuary. Her grip on Sanctuary cuts deep into the hearts of men and women alike, cultivating the worst in its denizens and leaving the world a dark, hopeless place. It was really weird to bring the Necro back in a standalone package in D3, but that was the result of an aborted expansion, I believe. Like before, I think this class will return. No double hand crossbows I guess, though. Rogue, Assassin, Demon Hunter, they’re all branches of the same tree, even if the name keeps changing. We’ll see what they think about bringing it back. Again, it’s a wholly unique style of play and was a big hit in Diablo 3. While I firmly believe Paladin will return, I think it may be a toss-up between Monk and Amazon for the second class. This is just the Sorcerer/Sorceress called by a different name. While Diablo 3 did get a Necromancer and have the Witch Doctor, I think there’s too much overlap between the two pet-based classes in D4 to see the Witch Doctor make a return over some of these others.
